Stage 1 of #780 — the data model. A space carries an optional
`led_strips: [{id, points, marker, active?}]` (custom_components/houseplan/
led_strips.py, pure, strict mypy).
- Type schema inside SPACE_SCHEMA: 2–50 finite numeric points (no strings,
booleans, NaN or off-canvas values), ≤50 strips per space including hidden
shapes, strict boolean `active`, marker = non-empty string or null.
- A config-level step after coordinate canonicalisation judges the shape
(two distinct points, non-zero length, a closed strip needs three distinct
vertices, a hidden shape needs a marker, unique ids per space) and the links
in the order the spec fixes: duplicates are rejected before any
normalisation (two links to the same missing id still conflict); a link to
a marker that is not live becomes an unbound strip (marker null, active
true, id and points kept), so a client that does not know strips can delete
a bound marker without its save failing; a live marker with an empty space
adopts the strip's space; a non-empty foreign space rejects the write.
- config/set answers with `led_strips: {unbound, space_adopted}` when the
write was normalised, so a new client re-reads; old clients ignore it.
- Space import remaps links through the marker id map; a skipped or
virtualised duplicate leaves the strip unbound; a coinciding old id never
binds. Plan-only export keeps geometry and nulls every link. Import details
report `unbound_led_strips`, computed by the server, never read from the file.
- Coordinates get JSON-noise cleanup only, like stairs (face contacts are
off-lattice), in both canonicalisers with a shared fixture case.
- Support package: counters only (total/unbound/hidden), no coordinates or ids.
Tests: tests_backend/test_led_strips.py (41, pure), test_ha_import_export
(6 cases: full round trip with a hidden shape, orphan count, remap against a
coinciding id, skip and virtual duplicates, plan-only), test_ha_websocket
(old client deletes a bound marker → save stands, counters, foreign space
rejects without a new revision). Full backend with the HA harness: 969 passed.
Mutating the shape check, the duplicate check, the orphan normalisation or the
space adoption each turns the pure suite red.

Tooling: requirements_test.txt becomes the single source of backend CI
dependencies; pyproject.toml configures ruff (E/F/B/I, E501 excluded by
decision) and mypy strict for a grow-only allowlist of six pure modules
(junction_limits annotated to pass). The 42 substantive ruff findings
are fixed — the B023 loop-variable closures bind their variables as
parameter defaults instead of hiding behind noqa, and every remaining
noqa carries a reason (guarded by a test).
Errors: const.ERROR_CODES / ERROR_CODE_FAMILIES formalise the stable
contract; the scanner test proves every emitted code across BOTH paths
(send_error literals; class attrs, literal and variable-passed
MarkerControlError codes, f-string families) is registered and has a
localized message — 22 missing backup.error.* keys added in all four
languages. invalid_passage_fields / invalid_partition_opening_jamb_margin
ship structured JSON details (legacy format read-compat for one beta),
and _errText renders code-first: unknown codes localize, raw English
messages go to the console.
CI: the backend job lints with ruff, refuses a silently skipped HA
harness (import + collect threshold), measures branch coverage over
pure+harness, fails below the committed baseline and uploads
coverage.xml. quality_scale: docs-troubleshooting/examples honestly
done, test-coverage/strict-typing carry staged progress.

Issue: #42
(a) a same-binding click in the marker dialog is a no-op: the value
source and badge reset only on an actual change of binding (#378 §1.6) —
both the candidate list and the virtual radio.
(b) rewriteMarkerControlReferences no longer plants value_badge /
value_source keys as undefined on markers that never had them.
(v) the expensive release diff proof (2 git-show per src file) runs only
for commits the SAME shared predicate classifies as release — both
disjuncts, including the Release: trailer.
(g) the paired neutralisation formats in space export are documented in
place and pinned by a combined badge+value_source pytest.

Review CODE-REVIEW-225-r1.
M1: urlsplit(url).path was trusted even when the url carried a scheme or an
authority, so "https://evil.example/houseplan_files/files/m1/doc.pdf"
resolved onto a local file while _looks_internal kept calling it external —
the mirror image of the inconsistency this resolver exists to prevent. Only a
same-document reference is resolved by its path now.
M2: the three mutants the spec described are registered in
scripts/mutation-gate.mjs instead of living as a one-off manual run. The
traversal entry drops both structural checks at once on purpose: taken one at
a time the defence is layered (sanitize_marker_id turns ".." into "misc") and
the mutant would be equivalent — established by running it.

A backup holding a PDF attachment could not be imported back: legacy links
carry a cache-buster (".../files/m1/doc.pdf?v=1783170649"), and the resolver
compared the raw tail with its sanitized form, so the query made the name
differ from itself. The reference then read as internal by prefix and
non-canonical by name, which is exactly the combination _content_state must
refuse — every such document failed with invalid_content.
Parse the url as a url: the path addresses the file, the query and the
fragment address the transfer. Path segments keep doing the guarding, so
dropping the query cannot widen what a segment is allowed to be.
